Project Results & Deliverables

Drone4Build produces open-access research, frameworks, and training resources to advance drone skills in Europe's construction sector. Here you can explore our published outputs and what is coming next.

R2.1 Strategic Report on Drone Skills in the Construction Sector

PublishedWP2Lead: K&S CentreDelivered: March 2026

This strategic analysis maps the skills landscape for drone technology in construction, with a focus on renovation and retrofitting. Developed through desk research, expert contributions, and cross-country stakeholder input, the report identifies capability gaps and sets out a technology roadmap for the sector.

Five Priority Skill Domains

Operational and flight skills, technical and sensor knowledge, data processing and digital integration, BIM workflow integration, and business and organisational skills were identified as the core capability areas.

Three-Phase Roadmap

The report defines a phased pathway from current operational adoption through integrated BIM and digital-twin workflows to longer-term autonomous and advanced BVLOS-enabled ecosystems.

EU Regulatory Analysis

The study reviews the EASA regulatory landscape across partner countries, covering Open, Specific, and Certified categories relevant to construction drone operations.

Stakeholder Validation Workshops (A2.2)

In May 2026, Drone4Build conducted stakeholder engagement workshops in all five partner countries. Drone operators, construction specialists, VET trainers, and researchers reviewed the strategic report findings and validated the identified skills gaps, directly shaping the upcoming curriculum.
