Why Drone4Build?

Europe's construction sector faces a dual challenge: a growing need for digital transformation and a persistent shortage of workers with the right skills. The EU Renovation Wave aims to double energy renovation rates, demanding millions of professionals equipped with new technologies. Yet vocational training has not kept pace with rapidly evolving tools like drones, BIM, and digital twins.

Drone4Build bridges this gap by creating purpose-built training resources, validated by industry stakeholders and aligned with the European Digital Competence Framework, the EU Green Deal, and Construction 5.0 principles.

How We Work: Five Work Packages

WP1

Project Management & Coordination
Abstract Technology

Ensures quality delivery, financial management, partner coordination, and reporting to the Erasmus+ National Agency throughout the project lifecycle.
WP2

Digital Skills Ecosystem for Drones
K&S Centre

Produces the strategic skills report, organises stakeholder validation workshops across all partner countries, and develops the drone competency framework mapped to DigComp 3.0.
WP3

Training Programme Development
FLC

Designs blended curricula with face-to-face and online components, covering drone operations, data processing, safety, and regulatory compliance for EQF level 4-5 construction professionals.
WP4

Pilot Testing & Train-the-Trainer
IIPLE

Delivers pilot courses in each partner country and conducts train-the-trainer workshops, producing guidelines for Europe-wide rollout of drone training in VET institutions.
WP5

Industry Collaboration & Sustainability
PEDMEDE

Engages construction companies, manufacturers, policymakers, and associations through round tables, hackathons, and dissemination events. Builds an EPALE community of practice for long-term sustainability.

Aligned with EU Priorities

Drone4Build directly supports the EU Digital Strategy, the Renovation Wave, and the Green Deal. The project builds on proven methodologies from projects such as Construction Blueprint, BIM4D, ET4Digital, and TRITON, whilst contributing to the European Skills Agenda and the Pact for Skills in Construction.
